Where White Truffle came from
White Truffle is a selected phenotype of Gorilla Butter, a cross of GG4 (the strain formerly called Gorilla Glue #4) and Peanut Butter Breath from Fresh Coast Genetics. The breeder Beleaf found a plant in that line with an unusually dark color, a savory nose and a heavy frost, named it White Truffle, and it spread through the Michigan and California scenes around 2020 before going national.
It arrived at the height of the exotic strain wave, when rare cuts sold at a premium, and the name and the look fit the moment. Unlike a lot of hype strains it has kept its following, mostly because the aroma is unlike anything else on the shelf.
White Truffle genetics and lineage
GG4 contributes the potency, the resin and the earthy, chemical undertone; it is one of the stickiest strains ever bred. Peanut Butter Breath, itself a Do-Si-Dos and Mendo Breath cross, brings the nutty, savory, almost roasted character and the dark coloring that Mendo Breath lines are known for.White Truffle sits closer to the Peanut Butter Breath side in aroma and to the GG4 side in effect. Its sibling Black Truffle comes from a related line and shares the dark look with a slightly sweeter, more chocolate nose.
How White Truffle feels
The onset is gentler than the reputation suggests. The first stretch is clear and calm, a slow easing of tension with the head still working, which is why some people use it late in the afternoon rather than only at night. Over the next half hour the body catches up: heavy limbs, a settled mood, and a strong preference for the couch.
It is not a social strain at full dose and it is not a daytime one. A small amount is a pleasant wind-down; a large one is the end of the evening. Dry mouth is common. Effects last around two to three hours and taper into sleepiness.

White Truffle is widely marketed as a 25 to 30% THC strain, and some indoor cuts do test that high, though numbers in the low 20s are common in practice.

Growing White Truffle
White Truffle is a moderate to difficult grow, mainly because the cut is the point: seeds sold under the name rarely reproduce the selected phenotype, so clones matter more than with most strains. The plant is medium-height with a bushy structure, flowers in about 9 weeks, and turns very dark in the final weeks with cooler nights.
Yields are on the lower side for the effort, which is part of why the strain commands a premium. The buds are dense and heavily resinous, so give the canopy airflow. A slow, cool cure preserves the savory terpenes, which are more volatile than fruit terpenes and fade quickly in a warm jar.
